Polson, MT - Flathead Lake
Hi All,
We just arrived in beautiful Dillon, MT after three beautiful days overlooking Flathead Lake. There was a terrific amount of smoke that obscured the mountains, accept in profile, but didn’t diminish our enjoyment of the rest of the view.
We had a nice drive from Coeur d’Alene on Thursday even with about 10-12 miles of construction on highway 93. We took an alternate road when we left today and were able to drive around the construction and only add about 7 miles to the trip.
Jerry and I played golf on Friday with our friend Harvey Olson from Missoula and a Fred Myers a guy Harvey knows that lives in Polson during the summer and in Henderson, NV, at the Anthem, during the winter. We had a wonderful day for golf and the company was especially good. Jerry and I came out all square on the front nine, thanks to a 9th hole bogey on his part. On the back nine Jerry was getting me pretty good, -3 & -1 at one point, but I came back to -1 & +1 playing the 18th which is a 480 yard par 5. I hit my drive into the rough, trying to cut the corner, and Jerry hit a great drive down the fairway. I laid up with a 5 wood and jerry waited for the green to clear before attempting a driver from the fairway in hopes of getting home in two. Well, after several minutes of waiting the guys in front finished and Jerry hit a marvelous shot to about 10-12 feet of the hole. I then hit an 8 iron to about 15 feet and on the same line as Jerry. I missed my putt for a birdie and Jerry casually two putted for a birdie and the 2 up win. We celebrated with a couple of beers on the patio with Harvey and then returned to the RV Park to clean up for dinner. We went to the Mexican restaurant on the lake and had a pretty good meal. We all left full and a couple even took boxes with them.
Jerry and Jackie left on Saturday to see some friends in Missoula and we met them again here in Dillon. It sounds like we will have KFC for dinner and then it will be on to Brigham City, UT tomorrow, Fruita, CO on Tuesday, and then on into Gunnison, CO to meet our friends on Thursday. We will stay in Gunnison until Monday playing golf each day and fishing before and after golf. There might also be a meal or two, beginning with Tippy’s Lasagna on Wednesday.
More from Brigham City tomorrow. Sorry about no pictures but we were just too busy relaxing. I will try to do better the next few days. Be safe.
