Hot Springs to Branson
Howdy Y'all,
We left Hot Springs on Monday and drove some 185 miles to Fayetteville. The drive was very pretty as were were on a "red road" and the countryside was very green and beautiful. We drove out to our friend Junella's mother's home that evening to see them and have dinner at her home. Junella's sister, Willy, was also there and we had lots of interesting conversation learning about the different things Willy and her husband made and sold at various shows around the country. She is very artistic and we saw many works that she had done. They are now into fudge but somehow we missed out on a sample.
Willy made an excellent dinner with a shrimp/alfredo sauce over linguini, a delicious salad, and garlic bread. Mmmmm Gooood!! Two helpings wern't enough but I didn't have any more room in my stomach so I had to stop. Junella gave Alex some toys that were intended for a dog, Skitter, that unfortunately passed away before she could present them to him. Alex is still playing with a squeaky hotdog that was part of the package. She hasn't played with anything else for three days. On Tuesday Junella came into town to see us and show us around a bit. After a tour of the city and the university we went to a local Mexican restaurant and had a delicious meal, served to us by the owner.
Wednesday morning we drove to Branson. The drive was very pretty despite a very curvy road and intermittent rain. We drove 45 most of the way, due to the hills and curves, so stopped occassionally to let the parade get by us. We found a nice picnic area along the way so we stopped for lunch and a walk for Alex. We found the RV park without any difficulty, got settled and all set up, and then drove around a town a bit.
Wednesday evening we went to the Mickey Gilley show and were thoroughly entertained! His steel guitar player, Joey Daily, was exceptionally funny and was a good break between song sets. There was also another singer, Mike Walker, that did two songs. he is a singer impersonator and has a vocal range of five octaves. he did Elvis and Ray Charles and the sound was perfect. We are going to see his entire show tonight so will let you know how that was later.
We have another show tomorrow evening and two shows on Saturday before we head further north on Sunday. Enjoy the pictures and be safe.
