Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Sault Ste. Marie to Sturgeon Falls

We had a very pleasant drive yesterday to Sturgeon Falls, a small town about 50 miles east of Sudbury, ON. We passed numerous rivers and lakes and many wonderful sights. We stopped for lunch and a stretch at a rest area and discovered the Serpant River was right at the back of the area. There were two sets of falls, small ones, and several pools. There were local people there sunbathing and swimming and the sight was very picturesque!

We were stopped on the highway for almost an hour because of what appeared to be a one vehicle rollover accident. They had two ambulances, a fire truck, two police cars, and an air ambulance all at the scene. I think the big problem was the air ambulance was parked in the middle of the road and no cars could get through until it left. Not much to see as we finally got past the site but the small SUV looked pretty bad. Hope the folks survived the crash!

We arrived at our RV Park, Glenrock Cottages and Trailer Park, a little later than usual due to the delay and the long drive of 250 miles. We have a decent 30 amp site but the property is pretty crowded and the power is suspect. Our power protector kept going off due to low voltage and we ended up running the generator for a couple of hours so we could run the air conditioning. Hopefully with the weekenders gone the power will be better today.

The campground is right on the shore of Nipissing Lake and is quite nice. They have a beach for swimming, a marina for folks that brought a boat, and boats to rent. This part of the lake is apparently pretty shallow so the fishing is in doubt. I may rent a boat for half a day and give it a try anyhow. Heck, the worst thing that could happen is I wouldn't catch any fish but enjoy a few hours on the water. The big surprise here is THEY HAVE WiFi, yeah! I tried to hook up with a local fishing guide but his rate is $75 per person with a minimum of $200. If I could find another person or two it would be fun to get some Walleye. I will check around today and see if I can find someone that wants to go. Enjoy the pic's from yesterdays journey and be safe.
