Bar Harbor to Littleton, MA

We have had a great few days as we traveled down to Littleton, MA. On Monday we traveled down highway 1 from Ellsworth, ME to Portland, ME. We had many glimpses of the ocean and bays and many other wonderful sights as well. The drive was really incredible and the traffic wasn't bad either. We had an okay spot at the Bayley's Camping resort in Scarborough, ME. The park was almost closed up as the "season" was past but we found plenty to do during our short stay. On Tuesday we took a drive down the coast on a small coast highway - ME 9. We drove as far as Kennebunkport where we stopped to do some shopping and to get an ice cream cone. We didn't find the Bush compound but we did see many lovely homes.

On Wednesday we continued our road home with a short 106 mile jaunt out of Maine, across a corner of New Hampshire, and into Massachusetts. We are now staying at the Minuteman Camping resort which is about 40 miles from downtown Boston, just off the I-495 loop. We drove around a bit yesterday and may go to dinner tonight. The colors here are turning but slowly. All of the foliage reports we have seen indicate that the fall color change is about two weeks behind the normal schedule. Even though, we have seen many beautiful trees just not the overall color we were expecting.

Tomorrow we are off to Rhode Island for our first visit to that state and then on for a first visit to Connecticut on Sunday. From there we head to Pennsylvania with an overnight stop in New Jersey.
