Vermont to Maine
We had a very pretty drive on Saturday from Danville, VT to Casco, ME. We followed route 2 out of Vermont, across New Hampshire, and into Maine. The entire trip was less than 120 miles and the scenery was very nice. The same route later in the fall would be spectacular with the fall colors at their finest. We found a small rest area along the way where we stopped for lunch and to give Alex a walk. We arrived at the Point Sebago Golf and Beach Resort a little after 1:00. We got settled in our spot, picture above, and then went into the town of Windham to locate a church for Tippy and to stop at the local Walmart. I watched the golf event when we returned home and Tippy made meat loaf and mashed potatoes for dinner.
Sunday and Monday it rained most of the day, not a hard rain but more of an irregular drizzle. Tippy drove to Mass in the morning and we went and picked up a pizza after the golf was over - good job Tiger! I stopped by the golf course on Monday to confirm my Golf Digest visit on Wednesday. The course looks great and is rated #1 in Southern Maine by Golf Digest. I also plan on playing the Kebo Valley G.C. in Bar Harbor that is rated #1 in Maine.
Tippy has decided to drive into Bridgton, about 13 miles, to visit a Quick Care facility there. her back has been bothering her again and she thinks she may have a urinary infection. She was comfortable driving alone so I am staying home with Alex and trying to finish my current book. The navigation system in the new Honda CR-V is really good and Tippy feels very comfortable driving with "Sugar," the name given to the nav system, providing voiced directions.
We will stay here until Friday when we will head north to Bar Harbor, about 175 miles. A friend of mine from Las Vegas, David Gubler, owns a nine hole Donald Ross design course that is about 15 miles from Bar Harbor. David will be up there during the time we will be there so we will get together for some golf and fellowship. We also want to tour the Arcadia National Park while in the area. Our friends Walt & Jeri, we met them in Durango last summer, will be on a cruise ship that docks in Bar Harbor during the time we will be in the area. We are planning to have lunch with them and visit for a time while their ship is in port.
I will report back after my round of golf tomorrow, hopefully with some nice golf course pictures. It was 86 and humid when we arrived on Saturday. On Sunday the temperature was in the 60's and the same for Monday and Tuesday. It is supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow which will be nice for my golf game. Be safe.
