First 12 days in Polson, MT
We have been here for 12 days already and yet it seems like we just arrived. The Eagle Nest RV Park is in great condition and our site is wonderful as you can see from the pictures above. The weather has been outstanding with daytime temps in the 70's to 80's and night temps in the 50's. We have had a couple of rain showers and even a downpour one night but the days have been great and mostly sunny. It will get to 90 on Tuesday and that is the highest forecast daytime high since we have been here. I have been playing golf on a regular basis - three times here at the Polson C.C., once at Eagle Bend, with my friend Carl Henry, in Big Fork, once at Big Mountain, and once at Buffalo Hills both in Kalispell. I finally broke 80 on Friday ay Big Mountain. I had a 79 with two double bogies and one birdie. My game continues to improve and I hope to get all of the parts together for a round or two before we leave in September. I practiced chipping yesterday so hopefully when I miss a green I can get the ball close enough to make a putt or two. I have been taking 34-36 putts a round and that is not good at all!
We attended the show "All Shook Up" at the Big Fork Summer Playhouse with our friends Jay and Mary Jane Burke, also from Texas. The cast was excellent and the Elvis music very good. We all enjoyed the show and the pre-show diner at the Big Fork Inn. Last Saturday we drove our rig to West Glacier, MT to meet our friends from the Alfa Lonestars group, Jack and Carol Trousdale. We sat outside and enjoyed a cocktail and caught up on our summers activities before heading off to dinner. They are work camping at a KOA campground in Hardin, MT and next year they will do the same but in Alaska.
We have been doing some prep work on next summers travels, basically laying out the route and where we will stay and then we will go back and decide how long to stay in each location. We have committed to return to Mallard Creek again next July so that part of the trip is fixed but we have decided not to stay in Polson again next summer and spend some time in North Dakota instead. We really enjoyed it when we visited there a couple of years ago and we have talked about going back on several occasions.
I have golf scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday this week. Monday and Tuesday here and Thursday will be a road trip to Plains,MT and Thompson Falls, Mt where we will play nine holes in each town. Both courses are nine hole courses with two sets of tees. We will have lunch somewhere between courses and the weather has promised to be great! Both of these towns are on the Clark Fork river, where we had lunch on our way to Polson from Idaho, so the trip should be very scenic. I will get some pictures of the course here and the two road courses for my next post.
On Friday we are scheduled to attend the show "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" in Big Fork with Barb and Carl Henry. They have a wonderful home on the Eagle Bend golf course where we will meet for cocktails before heading for dinner at the Big Fork Inn before the show. It puts us home at almost 11:30 so it is a long evening and Alex gets lonesome I am sure.
Enjoy the pictures from where we stopped for lunch along the Clark Fork River as we traveled from Idaho to Polson and of our site here in Polson. More in a day or so, be safe.
