Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

On the Road Again

We left home for our summer trip on Monday, May 30, and our first stop in Grapevine, Texas to visit David and his family. They all came over and hung out for the afternoon and then we grilled dinner - steaks, hamburgers, and hot dogs, and had lots of leftovers. We had a chance to catch up with the big kids and spend some playtime with the little kids. David took the kids over to swim a while, they both love the water, and Cole and I each won a game of domino's later in the day. He is pretty good so I was very happy to win one of the games.
David was able to join me on Tuesday while I did a Golf Digest visit to The Old American Golf Club which is one of the contenders for the best courses in Texas. David played well and shot a nice 72 featured by an eagle on the last hole. I stumbled in with a 90 which featured more double bogies than pars although I did make one birdie. We really enjoyed the time together and were able to chat about a lot of stuff.
Today, Wednesday, I did a Golf Digest visit to the Dallas National Golf Club, one of the top 100 courses in America, and had a wonderful time on a great course. I will include a couple of pics that give you a glimpse of the beauty of the course. They have Zozia (sp) grass fairways that were perfect! The ball just sat up so nice you just couldn't miss a shot, although I managed a couple of times. The greens were bent grass and averaged about 7000 square feet with lots of undulations. I did pretty well from tee to green but had great difficulty putting. No birdies today but I did hit the ball much better than yesterday and shot an 87 on a course that was much longer and more difficult than Old American.
The kids will come over again either today or tomorrow, depends on how David is feeling, to swim, play around, and have dinner. I also have a mobile RV service company coming on Thursday to change the oil in the coach and check the coolant. The company comes highly recommended so I anticipate a good job to be done.
On Friday we are off to Goodlett, TX, only about 200 miles north and west of here and our trip will be really getting started. We will be heading west when we catch I-40 in Amarillo. We will stop in Santa Rosa, New Mexico on Saturday, Gallup, NM on Sunday, and then a couple of days in Williams, Arizona on Monday and Tuesday.
So stay tuned and I will try to keep you reasonably up to date on our progress and activities. Be safe.
