Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

On the Road Again

We traveled from Arlington to Shreveport, LA on Thursday and from Shreveport to Jackson, MS today. Both trips went fine as they were all on I-20 and both were short trips. Mike had a problem with a warning light yesterday but we were able to stop at a rest area and he called Monaco and got a fix, which allowed us to continue without further problems.

We went to dinner at Savoie’s, which was just a short way from the RV park. The people there were terrific and the food was outstanding! I tried the Crawfish dinner which consisted of a giant bowl of boiled Crawfish that were quite spicy. You only ate the tail which required a thumb under the tail and then a twist of the body. You then peeled the top off the tail and squeezed the meat out of the tail. There wasn’t much meat from each Crawfish but there were probably over 100 in the bowl. I ate all I could and the others also ate a few and we only ate about 2/3 of the bowl.

While we watched TV last night the window was open by the dinette table and my computer got wet. When I tried to start it the answer was no! I tried to dry it with a hair dryer but still couldn’t get it to work so I finally went to bed. When I got up in the morning it still wouldn’t work so I called Patty to get the number for technical support at Dell. I want to get a new laptop computer but I didn’t want to lose all the data on my hard drive. Patty read in her manual what to do if your computer gets wet so I did what it said and just let it dry as we traveled today. When we got to Jackson I put it together. Plugged it in, and pushed the on button. Low and behold it started up and seems to be working perfectly. I’m sure Tippy has been praying for me all day.

Our drive today started with another warning light in Mike’s coach. We had traveled about 30 miles from Shreveport and stopped at a gas station to check it out and call for help. Mike stopped the engine and turned the battery switch off and then back, on and then re-started the engine. Well the warning light didn’t come on but when the Monoco guy called back he still wanted Mike to take it to a repair facility back in Shreveport. They did some diagnostic work and found that it wasn’t a big problem and Mike was back on the road in about two hours. We went ahead to Jackson and are waiting for them now. Tomorrow we will drive to Birmingham, AL and have dinner with my friend Rick Arnold. We will stay over in Birmingham until Monday when we will travel to Augusta, GA. More from Augusta next week so be safe.

A funny note from yesterday - My friend Ray Columbaro from Vero Beach, FL called me from in front of our home in Henderson. They were on a trip west to see their son and decided to come to Las Vegas for a few days. They knew we were gone but decided to drive by and check out the house. Thanks guys!
