Sorry for the delay in posting but we have been pretty busy enjoying ourselves at the Cedarbrook Campground and playing golf. We arrived safely last Thursday and drove around the area a bit and located the golf course. On Friday I played golf at Shaker Run, the tournament course, and Tippy and I ate in that evening and enjoyed our site at the campground. Our site has an open area on the passenger side, where we sit out, that stretches for 200 yards and about 100 yards to the front of the coach. This greenbelt has several trees and joins up to a cemetery. It is very peaceful and we can't see any other campers when we sit out.
On Saturday we had Stanley Steemer in to do the carpet and then Tippy, Alex, and I drove around town a bit waiting for the carpet to dry. We went to the local committee barbeque that evening and a couple of friends - Jim & Lynn Magette and Richard & Susan Wight - over for a drink after the dinner and we enjoyed sitting out and watching the fireflys and even two deer happened to walk by for our enjoyment.
Sunday morning I played in the annual Committee tournament at the Oasis Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer design, which was about 15 miles away in a town called Loveland. I got back in time for a quick lunch and a short nap before getting cleaned up for my meeting and the USGA Player's Dinner. The golf was great on the back nine and pitiful on the front, 44-38. I also had two birdies and only 11 putts on the back nine.
The stroke play part of the championship will begin tomorrow and it will be interesting to see how Michelle Wie will do. She's going to be a great player but I am not sure she is ready for this level of competition right now. I will work as a rover tomorrow afternoon, walk with a group on Tuesday afternoon, and then referee a match Wednesday morning and rove in the afternoon. I should be pretty tired by the time we are ready to leave on Thursday. I will try to get some pictures up soon but in the meantime enjoy and be safe.
