Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Grand Canyon by Train

We had an awesome time on our trip to the Grand Canyon!! The train trip was quite comfortable and the staff on the train were exceptional. We took a 1.5 hour bus tour that took us to viewpoints that we couldn’t have gotten to by foot. We also spent some time at the El Tavor hotel and viewed the canyon from the village area. We had a box lunch after the bus trip and then waited for the return train trip to Williams.

The return trip was also great! We saw some Elk on the return trip and, if you can imagine, experienced a train robbery. Fortunately we spent all of our money at the canyon so we had nothing to put into the bag. When the Marshal came into our car hot on the trail of the bandits he assured us not to worry and that he had some good news – you guessed it he has saved 15% on his insurance.

We drove straight back to Flagstaff as we were concerned about Alex. Harvey, the park owner, was scheduled to walk her a couple of times but she was a little skittish when they met the night before. When we arrived home there was a note from Harvey that said Alex wouldn’t come close to him so he wasn’t able to take her out at all. She seemed fine but had shredded most of the roll of paper towels. I took her for a walk and we gave her lots of love that evening and she seems to have forgiven us.

I will post a few pictures from our canyon trip for your enjoyment and we will be off to Tucumcari, NM tomorrow. More later, be safe.
