Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

We have arrived safely in Santa Fe

Please excuse me for not updating the Blog a little sooner. We had an enjoyable trip from Tucumcari to Santa Fe on Wednesday. We took a shortcut from Clines Corners to I-25 on highway 285. This road is only two lanes but we were about the only vehicle on the road and the views were great. We arrived at the Santa Fe Skies RV Park in time for lunch. Mike and Patty were waiting for us and had arranged for us to have the site right next to theirs. We got settled, had lunch, and then went shopping at Sam’s Club, Trader Joe’s, and Pet Smart. We got some things we needed and some we probably didn’t, like the Trader Joes peanut butter pretzels that are soooo good.

Patty fixed a wonderful dinner of baked chicken, warm pasta salad, and a layered salad. We ate plenty and got caught up on events since we had seen them almost a year ago. On Thursday Mike and I played golf at the Santa Fe Country Club. Mike played great, 70, and I played poorly, 84. He separated me from $6 of my hard earned money but we had a good time and got done before the rain started. We went to dinner on Thursday at an Italian restaurant called Andiamo. Everyone enjoyed their meal in this quaint restaurant that was in an old home in Santa Fe.

Friday morning I got a haircut and Tippy and Patty went shopping. I got a short nap in the afternoon and then we went for a cocktail train ride from downtown Santa Fe to Lamy where the train stopped and a couple of the folks from the Santa Fe Opera did a couple of songs and then we headed back into Santa Fe. We passed through lots of open desert area and several housing areas as well. The scenery was tremendous and we had a great time on the trip. We tried to pick up some KFC on the way home and would you believe that the two KFC’s we stopped at were out of white meat. We didn’t understand how this could happen so we headed home and grill some steaks on the grill outside. It was a wonderful evening and the dinner turned out great even though it was a little late.

On Saturday we took a road trip to Los Alamos with a stop at a flea market, a pueblo, Bandelier National Monument, and an unnamed restaurant in Los Alamos which had terrible service with decent food. We toured the Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos before heading back to the puppies that had been alone for six hours. The museum was really great and very informative. We watched a couple of movies about how Los Alamos got started and their mission today. They had many interactive displays and a chronology of how the Manhattan Project started and what they achieved. Tonight we are just hanging out at our coaches and watching a little TV. Not sure about tomorrows schedule but Mike and I will play golf on Monday. I will post a few pictures from the last couple of days. Enjoy and be safe.
