Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

McCall, Idaho

We arrived in McCall after a terrific 106 drive north on highway 55 from Boise. We followed the Payette river much of the way so the road was windy and we had to drive pretty slow most of the way. The drive reminded us of driving in Alaska when we followed the rivers and the railroads through each valley. Hoot and Genda left Boise early then Jackie and Jerry left and finally, around 10:00, we left. Knowing the road would be windy we felt it better not to have a caravan that would slow traffic.

We met other friends in McCall - Rick and Carla, Brian and Julie, Chet and Judy, and Dennis and Karen. All of these folks are on different tracks but met here in McCall for a few days or a few weeks, whatever the case might be. We all played golf on Wednesday and I found the McCall golf Club to be very beautiful with lots of trees, well conditioned fairways, and terrific greens. I think I had four 3-putts and shot 79 so I wasn't too dissappointed for the first round. Today we took a drive to an old ghost town like town called Burgdorf which has a hot springs available to the public. Tippy and I looked at some of the old buildings and the hot springs and then drove to Upper Payette Lake to have a picnic lunch before heading back to McCall.

Tonight we all had dinner with Bobby Peck, and his girlfriend Maryann, at a Mexican Restaurant that is near the RV Resort. Bobby lives in McCall during the summer and in Henderson during the winter. He is a great guy and seems to enjoy having us visit him here. The McCall RV Resort is also very nice. We have enough trees to provide some shade but not too many so they block satellite reception. The weather has been perfect! In the 80's during the day and down into the 40's at night. Sleeping is great and morning walks with Alex require a sweatshirt.

We are going to try and play the new Tamarack G.C. in Donelly, about 15 miles south of McCall. This is a Robert Trent Jones II course and is part of a huge land development with both summer and winter sports activities. The course is pricey but I hope my Golf Digest connection will help a bit. I am still working on some fishing but the time of the year isn't right for Steelhead or Salmon but I am told the Smallmouth Bass fishing is terrific. The real difficulty is that the fishing area, on the Salmon River, is about 50 miles north on roads that are pretty slow. Hopefully I will get something worked out for next week or the week after.

I have included some pictures from the RV Resort and our trip to Burgdorf. Enjoy and be safe.
