Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

View from Coach at Emerald Desert

Emerald Desert

We arrived safely at Emerald Desert on the 5th and had two pretty nice days on Wednesday and Thursday and now it is raining again on Friday. I took Tippy for Chinese lunch today to celebrate her birthday but otherwise we have pretty much stayed in today. I do have some cleaning to pick up later but I may wait for tomorrow if it continues to rain.
We enjoy this park very much. The pads are large and we are right across the street from the Mountain View clubhouse so we will be close for all of the Alfa group activities. There are about 12 Alfa's here today and I heard that they expect over 60 by tomorrow. We are looking forward to meeting new owners and seeing folks we have met before. Several Alfa employees will talk with the group on Sunday and there is a golf event scheduled for Monday.
We had the coach washed yesterday, probably why it is raining today, but at least it is clean and hopefully the rain will have stopped before we move on the 11th. We had the propane filled today so we should be fine for the four days of dry camping at the FMCA Rally. We gave Alex a shampoo this afternoon and got her smelling good again. This is not her favorite activity but she is getting more accepting of the procedure. I will add a picture with our view from the coach, at least it was the view before the clouds rolled in and obscurred the mountains entirely. Be safe.

January 5, 2005

Well we decided to stay in Temecula for an additional day because the weather didn't look good for Mike and Patty to head for home. This rain, although greatly needed, is driving us nuts and when you combine it with snow at higher levels it is a real mess. We decided to go to a movie yesterday and the selection was Ocean's 12. Since we were all running errands, we decided to meet at the theatre. Well movie time came and I called Mike to find out where they were and I found out they were at the theatre, but not the one we were at. So we watched the same movie at the same time but at different theatres.

Today is sunny and mostly clear. Mike and Patty headed for home early this morning and we will head for the Emerald Desert RV Resort after breakfast this morning. This will be a short 100 mile drive for us so we will be there sometime after lunch today. Tippy started feeling better yesterday so we hope she continues her upward swing.

We will join many other Alfa owners at Emerald Desert for what is called a pre-rally that is held before the big Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) Western Rally that will be held next week. The pre-rally actually begins on the 8th of January so I guess we are having a pre-pre-rally. Folks from the Alfa company will be at the pre-rally to answer questions and provide assistance. There will also be a golf event, weather permitting, a couple of meals, and several other get to gethers over the three days of the pre-rally.

The FMCA rally will consist of RV seminars, entertainment, dinners, and RV displays. We have never attended a rally before so this description is based on what I have heard from other RV'ers. We hope the rain subsides and that we are not parked on a grass area, mud bowl, at the rally. More in the next few days as we get settled at Emerald Desert. Be safe.

Well it is now 2005 and welcome to the Blogging era. We will attempt to use this free service of Google to keep our family and friends appraised of our whereabouts and even include a picture or two from our recent activities. You can check into this Blog anytime you wish and we won't bother you with e-mail every day or so.

We are currently in Temecula, California and will head for Palm Desert, CA tomorrow. It has rained all night and is still raining at 11:15 today. We ate in last evening as Tippy is feeling poorly, probably the flu based on her symptoms, so we will also lay low today as well. Mike and Patty have gone to see Ray this afternoon and we will try to dine at Anthony's this evening if Tippy is feeling better. I will post a couple of recent pictures of Alex and one or two pictures from our finely, second place, decorated tables at the New Years Party at the Rancho California RV Resort, an Outdoor Resorts property.
