Almost to Texas

We made a short, three day, stop in Las Cruces, NM before we head into Texas tomorrow. Actually, I made an early entry into Texas as I drove to El Paso today to play at the painted Dunes Golf Course, s Golf Digest visit. The course has a good layout with a good mix of holes but the conditioning was very weak. Too much water, not enough mowing, and they had airified the greens recently and they were a bit bumpy. I played with a young man from Switzerland that works for Volkswagen in Juarez, Mexico. he has been in El Paso for four years and really liked it at first but the last two years he won't stay in Juarez after dark due to all of the drug wars and shootings.

We will drive to Fort Stockton, Tx tomorrow and then on to Kerrville, Tx on Tuesday. Our motorhome club has a rally in Kerrville next March and Tippy and I are the wagon masters. That means that we have to plan all of the meals and entertainment, buy whatever we need and do all of the preparation and serving. It shouldn't be to bad as we will have another couple as Co-Hosts and others in the club jump in to help as well. Tippy will do a pasta dinner one night, we will have a pot luck on another, and the third will either be a catered dinner or we will go out as a group, possibly for a Mexican food dinner. We also have to prepare coffee every morning and breakfast on two mornings. We will meet with the rally manager and make all of the final arrangements while we are there.
