Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Monument Valley Utah

We arrived here yesterday afternoon after an enjoyable ride from Durango. It was amazing how the terrain changed in such a short distance. We went from trees and high country back to the desert and mountains. The outcroppings of rock are truly spectacular as you can see from the pictures above. We had a decent, not really good, dinner at the lodge last night and tonight I had great Cincinnatti Chile at home.

Tippy's back continues to cause her problems so she went to the health center here today. The doctor gave her some ibprofen and told her the pain should diminish in a few days. Hopefully he was correct and our trip will continue as planned. We will give it a few days and then make a decision.

I have posted a few pictures from our RV site and some of the outcroppings here at Monument Valley. Enjoy and be safe.

Last Day in Durango

Today will be our last day in Durango and we will head to Monument Valley, Utah tomorrow. We will be traveling east on highway 160 through the four corners, first time for us, and then into northern Arizona. We will then take highway 163 north into Utah and Monument Valley which is just over the border. I am not sure what services we will have there so my next report may come from Kanab, Utah when we arrive there on the 30th of June.

Mike, Walt, Brian, and I played golf yesterday at the Hillcrest G.C. here in Durango. We all enjoyed the day even with two delays for lightning danger. The first time we were right by the clubhouse and the second time we were right by the maintenance facility. Each stoppage of play lasted about one half hour and then the storm had passed by and we could return to our game.

Sunday evening we had margaritas and tacos and chatted with our park neighbors Walt & Jeri and Brian & Julie Pate. After golf on Monday we all ate separately and enjoyed an evening in after a drink with all four couples together in our coach. Today, Tuesday, Tippy did some laundry and then we drove into town to pick up a few things at Albertson's and then ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant. I did get a nap this afternoon as well and Tippy is making Cincinnatti Chile for dinner tonight.

I have enjoyed our stay here in Durango with two rounds of golf, a day of fishing, and a glider ride. Hopefully Tippy will continue to improve so she can enjoy some activities as well. She did go to the spa yesterday and had a 90 minute "Hot Rock" treatment. It didn't seem to do her back any good immediately but hopefully long term it will get her some relief.

More later. Enjoy the pictures and be safe.
