Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

First sign of Winter

We had our first taste of winter today and last evening with low temps and freezing rain. Fortunately most of the bad stuff was north of us, but we had a low in the 20's last night and it was 26, with a chill factor of 6, at 10:00 this morning. The high today is supposed to reach only 34 but it will start to warm up tomorrow and will be back in the 60's next week.

As I write this I can look out the window at the lake and see white caps rolling in as the wind is still from the north and I can also see icesicles dangling from the roof. I am not too happy with this weather but did manage a trip into Fairfield today to mail a package, get a haircut, and pick up my Class B drivers license, required to drive a motorhome in Texas.

We are considering an overnight trip to Tyler tomorrow to get Alex trimmed and do some shopping. We can do it in a day but then we have to leave Alex home alone for that extended period. With the stay over we can get her trimmed, shop while she is at PetSmart, and relax before going home the next day.

I have just about finished setting up the boat for fishing. I have gone out with fishing guides on three different occasions, two for Yellow Bass (Sandies), and once for Crappie. Both fish are delicious and very similar to the Striper we used to catch at Lake Mead. I can't wait for the wind to lay down a bit so I can go catch some more fish and do some graphing of the lake. I will try to get a picture or two of the boat for the next post so stay tuned.
