Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Colonial Williamsburg

Our drive from Pinehurst to Williamsburg was very pretty and fortunately the traffic was light. Since we had been there before we weren't very good tourists. We did drive to Jamestown and then along the river on the Colonial Parkway back to Colonial Williamsburg. On Wednesday Mike, Jerry, and I played golf with my friend Richard Wight at the Gold Course at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. The course was great and we had a wonderful time. On Thursday Tippy and I did a little shopping and then went to lunch. After lunch we did some grocery shopping and then returned to the Rv park to relax for the remainder of the afternoon.

I haven't been very good about taking pictures the past few days but I will post what I have. I will try to get some better ones during the next few days and post them for your pleasure. We have decided to change our schedule slightly. We stayed an extra night in Williamsburg and then traveled to Greensboro today, Friday, and then tomorrow on to a "Dog Friendly" RV park in Rutherfordton, NC. The park has two or three areas where the dogs are fenced so they can play off the leash. They also have an agility course that the dogs can try as well. We will stay here for three nights instead of going to the Outdoor Resorts RV Resort in Brevard, NC. From Rutherfordton will will drive to Nashville on Tuesday, June 28, and will attend the Grand Ole Oprey that evening.

I will try to post again from Four Paws Kingdom if I have access. Until then, be safe.

Pinehurst Blur

The week here is turning into a blur. Our Rv Park has turned out to be just great! It is about 2-3 miles from the shuttle pick-up at the Whispering Pines C.C. and it is very convenient to get back and forth without any traffic. My last assignment will be a 1:10 start with Luke Donald and a japanese player whose name I won't attempt to spell without looking at it. The course seems to be winning again but is also staying fair to the players. The phrase "Fairways and Greens" cannot be over emphasized here.

Last night we all went to dinner at a place called G3, Gourmet a Go Go, which turned out to be an okay dinner place and we all enjoyed our meals. Friday night we grilled steaks here at the RV park and Thursday night we had dinner at the USGA Hospitality tent. We will attend the Toast to the Champion after play today and that will take care of our meal as they provide heavy snacks along with adult beverage. Most of the group will follow Craig Barlow, a Henderson guy who has made the cut here, as he plays the final round. Craig has been a journey man player for several years but seems to continue to hold his PGA card each year. I believe he is currently about 144th on the list so he will need to pick up a few more big checks to get into the top 125 before the end of the season.

Tomorrow we will head to Colonial Williamsburg where we will spend three nights, explore a little, and play golf on Wednesday. BTW, our house is now in escrow and should close by the end of the month if all goes as planned. We still plan on settling somewhere on a lake in Texas, hopefully in the east Texas area where we really like the terrain. We all want to say a big hi to all of our friends at "The Ranch." We miss you and hope to see you sometime in the future. More later, be safe and enjoy the pictures.
