Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

One of the many deer we saw at Cordillera Ranch

A few pics at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch

Back in Texas, Yeah!!!!!

On Monday we drove from Kinder, LA to just west of Houston, TX. It was great to be back in our home state after a four month absence. The drive through and around Houston wasn't fun but we made it okay and found our way to the Houston West RV park in Brookshire, TX. On Tuesday we continued our way west to Boerne, Tx which is north and west of San Antonio. There are twenty rigs here for our rally and we hope to have a great time. I played golf at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch on Wednesday and had a wonderful time on a great golf course! This is a jack Nicklaus Signature course and is one of the best I have seen from him. I am not usually a Nicklaus fan but this course has changed my mind. The conditioning was great, even though the area has been in a severe drought for many months, and the layout very challenging. There was a great mixture of holes and many wonderful vistas from the tops of hills. On Thursday five of the guys from the rally played golf at The Buckhorn Golf Course in nearby Comfort, TX. We had a great time on a course that showed much more damage from the drought than I saw yesterday. They had managed to keep the greens in good condition but the tees and fairways were definitely lacking in grass and sure played hard and fast. Our first get together for the rally was Thursday evening with a happy hour and then sandwiches for dinner. On Friday evening the group went out to Po Po's restaurant, a local favorite, for dinner but we were not able to go as Tippy was having difficulty with the meds she was taking for her tooth problem. It started to bother her again when we got to Boerne so she went to see a dentist and was told she has a cavity under a crown. The dentist gave her a prescription for some antibiotics and some pain medicine. She didn't take the pain pills but she was having a reaction to the antibiotics. She contacted the dentist and was given a different prescription which she is now trying. We had our business meeting this morning, Saturday, and there will be an Ice Cream Social this afternoon. This evening we will have another happy hour followed by a catered dinner of barbecued brisket, sausage, beans, potato salad, and a dessert. We should be full again! Tomorrow we will be off to Marble Falls, TX, only about 75 miles, where we will stay two nights before heading home on Tuesday. We got some rain here last evening and today but I don't know about home. Hopefully they will also get some rain this weekend. Enjoy the pica and be safe.

A couple of shots from the Koasati Pines G.C.

A view from a rest area in central Arkansas

Views of our site at The Outdoor Resorts of the Ozarks

Branson, MO to Kinder, LA

We departed Branson on Saturday, September 24, and drove all of the way to Outdoor Resorts of the Ozarks - a total of 30 miles. After this beautiful but exhausting trip we had to take a nap to get our strength back. (ha, ha) The drive was truly beautiful with all of the hills and views of Table Top Lake. We had a wonderful site at the resort, right on the lake, and the weather was gorgeous. We had a surprise and met our friends from the Alfa Lonestars, Denise & Michael from Kileen, TX. They own a lot at the resort and were there for a few days making some improvements. They are motorcycle people so being out in the country is great for them. We spent Saturday & Sunday night there and then headed south to Hot Springs, AR where we spent two more nights at a new RV Park, Catherine's Landing, which is on the river that connects to Lake Hamilton. We did get out to eat both nights there - Jose's Mexican and the Outback. On Wednesday we drove to our friend Dick Albritton's place in Choudrant, LA where we had some stuff done to the coach. First and foremost we had a new residential refrigerator installed! Tippy just loves it and we were so happy to get the small refrig out of the coach after having worked around it for two months. Going from 12.2 cubic feet to 21.7 cubic feet is amazing and I know we will sure enjoy the extra space plus the water and ice through the door. Dick also installed our new back-up camera and color monitor. Hopefully it will be more reliable than the original model. he also installed a couple of rain gutters, and extensions, to keep the water off the windshield and the side of the coach. We were scheduled tgo be there through Friday but they got everything finished early on Thursday so we left on Friday and took an extra day in Kinder, LA at the Red Shoes RV Resort. We drove to Lake Charles, LA on Saturday to do some shopping to fill up that new refrigerator. With the extra day I decided to play golf on Sunday at the Koasati Pines G.C. here at the resort. It is one of the top courses in Louisiana and I had a great time, being out early I was able to play in just over two hours. Tippy found a small church in Kinder and was able to attend Mass this morning. Tomorrow we will be off to a park just west of Houston and then we will drive into Boerne, TX for our rally on Tuesday. We are both ready to be home for a while but we still have a couple of stops left. Enjoy the pictures and be safe.
