Stu & Tippy's Travels
This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Detroit Lakes
As you can see from the pictures below we have beautiful sites here at the Country Campground in Detroit lakes, MN. We have played golf, gone fishing, caught fish, gone out to dinner, cooked here at the campground, got Alex groomed, and found some time to relax as well. We arrived last Sunday to 90 degree temperatures and then enjoyed temps in the low 70's on Monday. Since then the weather has been great with temps in the 80's and lots of sunshine. We will begin to head west tomorrow and I will try to catch up on the details of our time here later. Be safe.

Lebanon to Detroit Lakes
We had a very enjoyable four day trip from Lebanon, OH to Detroit Lakes, MN. We traveled from Lebanon to Tinley Park, IL on Thursday then to Des Moines, IA on Friday, and to Savage, MN on Saturday. On Sunday we met up with Mike and Patty and Jackie and Jerry as we traveled northwest on Interstate 94. We arrived at the Country Campground in Detroit Lakes in the early afternoon and the day was most beautiful even if a little breezy. We got settled and our friend Larry came by and we sat around for a while catching up and chatting for a bit before going to dinner. We stopped at a bar, The Shorewood, and had a drink and played some pool and then moved to a second location, name is eluding me at this time, where we had another drink and finally dinner. The temperature was very pleasant overnight so it was good for sleeping and we didn't get up today until after 8:00 AM.
If you are ever in the Chicago area I would recommend to all of you, and especially to my friend Ray, Enrico's restaurant. This place in Frankfort, IL is tremendous!!! It is a small restaurant but the food is delicious and would be well worth your trip. Our trip to Des Moines was okay with nothing extraordinary unless you have never seen corn. We drove past about 900 miles of corn from Lebanon to Detroit Lakes and when there wasn't any corn there were soybeans. It is truly hard to comprehend how we could use so much corn.
We headed north from Des Moines to Savage, Mn, south and west of Minneapolis, and landed at the Town and Country RV Park. Our site was a little tight but the owner helped me get parked and since we could park the Jeep on the grass we had plenty of room. We ate in and enjoyed a relaxing evening. On Sunday we headed northwest toward Detroit Lakes and since our friends had spent the night on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin and would be traveling the same interstate as we were I suggested that Tippy give them a call and discovered that they were three or four miles behind us. We all stopped for lunch at a rest area and then traveled the rest of the way together.
The temperature went from the 90's to the 70's today with some light rain in the morning and the coolness felt pretty good. We got out the long sleeves and sweaters and enjoyed the day. Tippy and I found the local Walmart and bought a few things and later in the day I found a few minutes for a short nap until Alex felt I should be up and playing with her. We will play golf tomorrow and Wednesday and maybe go fishing on Thursday. Of course all of these plans are contingent on the weather but the forecast looks good, at least so far. Be safe.
