Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Bloomfield, NM

Hi ya'll, we arrived safely in Bloomfield, NM on Thursday after a wonderful ride up highway 550 from just north of Albuquerque into Bloomfield. Tippy was having some back pain so later in the afternoon she and Patty drove into Farmington, NM to the urgent care to have Tippy examined. The doctor didn't find any evidence of a kidney infection or a disc problem and the final diagnosis was a muscle spasm. The Dr. gave her some meds for the pain and for the spasms and sent her home. She wasn't feeling much better on Friday so she rested most of the day and took her meds.

Mike and Patty drove around a bit in the late morning and then went to the horse races in Farmington in the afternoon. I watched the U.S. Open while Tippy rested. Alex and I had a couple of walks and enjoyed the fenced in dog park that is very close to our space in the RV park.

Patty prepared a terrific dinner of chicken breasts, ravioli, and caesar salad, mmmm good! Unfortunately Tippy didn't feel like eating so she missed the meal. After dinner Patty gave Tippy a back rub and really worked on the area where Tippy was having the spasms. She apparently has a big knot in that area. Tippy took her meds and laid down on the bed to watch TV before going to bed. Alex and I slept on the couch so we didn't bother Tippy and Alex was a real cuddler as it got pretty chilly in the night.

This morning Tippy is feeling better although she still has some pain. I hope she continues to improve otherwise we will be heading back to see the doctor. Our friends Jerry and Jackie Wooldridge will arrive today and we will spend the next six nights with them before they head east to Jackie's 50th high school reunion. They will be having their 50th wedding anniversary next month so I guess they got married right after graduating from high school.

I will get a couple of pictures to share and more news of the trip in the next day or so. In the meantime be safe.

Santa Fe Update

Sunday morning found Tippy and Patty off to Mass at the church in downtown Santa Fe. Mike and Stu hung around the coaches and relaxed after Stu cleaned the windshield and the front of the Alfa. A guy from a neighboring RV stopped by and we talked about each others travels. He was actually on the train with us on Friday. He had spent 25 days traveling the Santa Fe Trail and he really seemed to have enjoyed the trip. He is on his way to the Rockies to spend the summer. He is traveling alone, with his small poodle, in a small motorhome, probably a 34’ Gulf Stream and no tow car.

Sunday afternoon we went to the El rancho de las Golondrinas museum which was only a short way from where we are staying. This is an old ranch and travel stop with over 100 natural springs on the property. The ranch has been turned into a museum and very accurately depicts the life in the area around the 1800’s. There were even folks in period costume around the property to answer questions and add realism to the ranch. They had a walking trail set up around the ranch, and its 41 buildings, that stretched to over one mile. I will post a couple of pictures from our visit for you to enjoy.

Sunday evening we went to Maria’s for dinner and Margarita’s. The food and drink were both excellent and we all left happy and full. Our waiter, Kevin, was very good and even had a margarita named after him on the margarita menu which contained over 100 different margaritas priced at up to $45.

Today, Monday, Mike and I played golf at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe. The course was pretty but not in real good condition. We ended up joining another twosome as the pace was pretty slow. We enjoyed the day and I was able to separate Mike from $6 that he had taken from me last Thursday, mostly due to his poor play on the back nine. I shot a 44-45-89 and Mike had a 37-43-80 and I also had ten stokes from Mike as well. I’m not sure what is scheduled for tomorrow but I think another road trip is in our future. Until then be safe and enjoy the pictures.
