Off to Washington, Montana, and points south
Before we left Mallard Creek we took a driving tour to several covered bridges, five in all. It wasn't a long trip, about two hours, but we saw some lovely country side and several nice small towns. We went with our friends Walt & Jeri Karpinski that we first met in Durango, CO a few years ago. We also visited the Roaring River Fish Hatchery that was near one of the bridges and learned quite a bit about the raising of the fish from fingerlings to 2-3 year old fish that are released into the streams. The brood fish, 3-4 years old, are kept in the tanks to provide more fingerlings and the cycle goes on. The Karpinski's have been to our home and will be there again this fall while they visit their kids and grand kids in Texas. We both enjoy them and always have a good time when we do things together.
We first saw Mt. Hood while heading to Mallard Creek. We were driving west on I-84 and all of a sudden it was right in front of us but I didn't have my camera up front so we missed that shot. While on our wine tour we were heading back home and al opf a sudden there it was across the river. We had several great views and took several pictures.
The top picture is Alex relaxing while I was cleaning the lens on my camera and reading about some of the different settings that I never use. I love the picture so much it is now the wallpaper on my computer. I get a chuckle every time I look at her.
Tomorrow I will do a Golf Digest visit to the Horn Rapids G.C. which is right across the street from our RV Resort. The course looks pretty from the road so hopefully I will have a good experience. We may take in a movie on Thursday, possibly the new Harry Potter film, and will hit Outback tomorrow evening. We just returned from the Three Margarita Mexican restaurant where we had lunch which included a margarita and fried ice cream for dessert. Needless to say I am, full and will begin my nap as soon as I am done here. Be safe, more later from Spokane.
