Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

On the move

We left Lebanon and headed for Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with an overnight stop in Stanfield, Oregon. We arrived at the Blackwell Island RV Resort early in the afternoon and shortly thereafter discovered a problem with the refrigerator. I called a tech but he couldn't get here until the next afternoon so we put all of the frozen food into the outside cooler and turned the temperature down to zero.
The tech came the next day and informed us our cooling unit was bad and required replacement. A re-built unit was around $1300 and a new unit around $1700 but to complicate things he couldn't put it in until next Monday and we needed to be in Eureka, MT by Saturday. We decided not to wait for him and chose to go and buy a small office refrigerator and then try to get our main refrigerator fixed in Kalispell later this month. I contacted an RV dealer in Kalispell and had him purchase the cooling unit and made an appointment to have it installed while we were in Columbia Falls on the 19th of August. The unit was $1632 plus the cost of installation but we were stuck so we went ahead with the deal.
Well I thought about this today, Thursday, and now we have decided to cancel the deal with the folks in Kalispell, continue to use the outside frig as a freezer, and use the new small frig for cooling our food inside. When we get to Louisiana in September we will have a new residential refrigerator installed for a total cost of less than $1700. The only glitch is the deal with the folks in Kalispell and I hope to get out of that with only a shipping charge.
We have been working on this and worrying about it so we haven't done much else. I think we will try to attend a movie tomorrow and get ready to travel to Eureka, MT on Saturday. More later as we get all of the details finalized and hopefully add some pictures from Montana. Be safe.
