Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Ready for the jump into Oregon tomorrow

We arrived in Red Bluff, CA yesterday for a two day stay at the Durango RV Resort. This is a new resort, August of 2008, and is really quite nice. We have a site that faces the Sacramento River and the view is tremendous. We had the coach washed last evening as we had picked up a lot of road grime plus driving in the rain for a few hours. It is nice to see it look so clean this morning. We have survived the drive up trough central California on Highway 99 and then jumping over to Interstate 5 in Stockton yesterday. We have certainly seen lots of agricultural land and crops being harvested and tended. The temp here is supposed to reach 80 today so that will be comfortable for us. The high temps in Gold Beach, OR will maybe reach 60 for the next few days. We arrive there on Saturday and will stay for five days doing some cleaning, washing clothes, and hopefully a day for Salmon fishing.

Got to play golf on Monday at the Pheasant Run Golf Club in Chowchilla, CA. The course has an agreement with the RV Resort that allowed me to play for free, actually they give you two rounds of golf for each night you stay at the resort, so it was a good deal and would have been better if Tippy also played. I shot an 82, not bad for me anymore. I played alone so played two balls on the front nine and made a couple of birdies with the #1 ball but then hit it into the water on the ninth hole. The second ball was more consistent with five pars and four bogies for a 40. I only played one ball on the back, remember I lost one on #9, and shot a 42. I think I was getting a little tired but did hit some good shots. Hopefully I will be ready for the "Guys" when I get to Mallard Creek.

I have included some picture from the last few days. Our site at The Lakes RV and Golf Resort, a view of Mt. Shasta as we approached Red Bluff, CA, and a view from inside our coach at the Durango RV Resort in Red Bluff, CA. Enjoy and be safe.

Alex doing what she does best

June 13th - Chowchilla, CA

We had two days of driving from Williams, Az to Chowchilla, CA., with an overnight in Barstow, CA, actually in Yermo. Driving through the desert was just what it used to be, uneventful and not worth writing home about. Interstate 40 from Needles to Barstow is in real need of repair! It is amazing how many of the rest areas the states have been closing. There was not one open on I-40 in Arizona from border to border. There were two open on I-40 in CA but there were two closed on highway 99 as we made our way to Chowchilla. Anyhow nothing broke and we arrived here safely. Another minor miracle as the receiver worked again tonight so we will have at least two more nights of live TV before the new one arrives, hopefully it will be in Gold Beach, OR when we arrive there on Saturday.

The place we are staying here is connected with a golf course, you can walk to the clubhouse, and you get two rounds of golf free for every night you stay in the resort. You do have to pay for a cart or you can walk. I went over and hit a bucket of balls this evening and I can truthfully say I didn't have any whiffs. I did have a couple of "laterals," several off line, and even a couple of solid hits, especially with the driver. I am looking forward to playing tomorrow.

I will add a couple of pictures of Alex resting on the couch. She was asleep when I took the first shot and woke up, at least opened her eyes, for the second. It was cold in Williams so I had a sweatshirt out for our morning walks. When Alex was asleep I covered her with the sweatshirt and didn't realize her toy, "Bow Tie" was inside of the sweatshirt. This is a toy thar our friend Junella gave to Alex a couple of years ago along with a bed for the car and one other toy I believe. Alex still loves the Bow Tie and plays with it on a regular basis so thanks again Junella. I'll let you know how golf goes tomorrow. Be safe.
