Tamworth, NH to Danville, VT
We had a wonderful 100 mile trip yesterday into Vermont. We had originally planned to take highway 302 that goes around the north side of the White Mountains but as we approached the town of Conway the traffic ground to a halt. It must have taken us over 15 minutes to go a mile so when we came to the turn off for highway 112, the Kancamagus Highway, we decided to take it knowing it was not as good a road as 302. Well this stretch of road, about 32 miles, is one of the "America's Beautiful Byways" and the scenery was just spectacular! We could only imagine what it would have been like with the fall colors in full bloom.
We found a nice rest area, just before we left New Hampshire, so we stopped for lunch and to walk Alex. We only had about 15 miles left to get to our destination - The Sugar Ridge RV Village & Campground. We got checked in there, got the coach all set up, and discovered we received satellite TV - yeah!!! This meant that I could watch the golf channel and see how the Fed-Ex Cup was going. We found a church for Tippy only about a mile down the street. They had a Mass scheduled for 6:00 on Saturday night and one at 9:00 on Sunday morning. She decided to go the the Saturday night Mass and when she got there she discovered they don't have that Mass any more and that the Sunday Mass is at 8:30. So she went this morning and wasn't late fortunately.
This is a real nice park although quite busy with seasonal campers. We figure that after Monday we will have the place to ourselves with school starting and all. Tippy found a farm stand where she got some corn and tomatoes last night. Both were simply delicious! The tomatoes had the flavor that made you want to eat the whole tomato like an apple with just a salt shaker in your other hand. The corn was also very tender and sweet and will require a return trip today.
We will be here for a week before heading into Maine so we will make another report in a day or so. Enjoy the pics below and be safe.
