We made a visit to the park yesterday and had a very enjoyable day. We saw critters as you can see above, saw much wonderful scenery, and had a picnic lunch in the woods after watching Old faithful do her thing. I have attempted to add a movie to the Blog and would appreciate your feedback regarding the quality, speed of loading, and anything else you think would be of use to me,

laundry and maybe a movie are on the days agenda with either lunch or dinner out. Enjoy the pics, more coming soon, and be safe.

We are settled in here at the Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, MT. On Wednesday Tippy and I went to the Imax theatre and saw a film on Yellowstone N.P. which was a great overview of the park and gave us several things we wanted to see live. We will go to see Old Faithful tomorrow and have a picnic in the park. Alex will be able to go with us so we won't be pressed for time.

Today I went fishing on the Madison River and had a wonderful time. The weather was just perfect, around 75 degrees when we finished and about 55 degrees when we first got on the river. As you can see from the pictures above the river is beautiful and I even caught some fish. I caught a couple of the White Fish, the one nice Brown Trout, and several small Rainbow Trout. My guide, Jeff, was outstanding! He could read the water like an expert and he told me just where to put my fly or nymph. I missed many bites because I didn't react quickly enough, sometimes because I was looking around at the beauty of the river and sometimes because I was just not quick enough. Polson, MT - Last week & Garrison, MT - short visit

We sure enjoyed our last week at Polson and I got to play a new course before we left, Mission Mountain G.C. in nearby Ronan, MT. I shot 1 78 there and won the pot, hurray! As you can see in the picture above, I also had a ball get stuck in a tree and it was on the side away from the tee, oh well, took an unplayable and played away. I also wanted to breal 80 at the Polson bay G.C. and had a great start on Tuesday with a 37 on the front but then shot a 43 on the back for an 80, boo hoo. On Wednesday I tried again and played great onn the front with a 2 under par 34 but faltered drastically with a 44 on the back but that did add up to 78 so I did reach my goal. It was like someone turned off a switch both rounds as I just couldn't hit any shots very well. I think I was trying too hard and just choked!

On Friday we drove to Garrison, MT, a short 145 mile trip down US 93 and then east on I-90. We stayed at Bernie and Sharon's Riverside RV Park and it was quite enjoyable even though it wasn't fancy. Garrison is about 10 miles from Deer Lodge, MT which is a little bigger town that actually has some stores and restaurants. We made use of both and headed back to Garrison on Saturday. On Sunday I played the Rock Creek Cattle Company golf course. This course is a candidate for the Best New Course for Golf Digest and I believe it will make it! Tom Doak is the designer and it is the most spectacular of his designs that I have played and that includes Bandon Dunes. The bunkering was incredible and the greens very treacherous. many mounds and humps on the greens made you look at your putts from all angles and even then I hit some putts that were way off line or very short or long. You would have to play a time or two or three to get the hang of putting but it would always be fun and challenging. The views were incredible as you can see from the pictures and there will never be homes built on or near the course. All homesites, ranging from 2 acres to 110 acres are away from the course with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. This development is part of a 80,000 acres working ranch and is about 7 miles south of I-90 up in the mountains at an elevation of just over 4500 feet. Very nice!

On Monday I played the Old Works G.C. in Anaconda, MT. This is a Jack Nicklaus design and is built on the site of an old mining operation. The black sand in all of the bunkers are the signature of the course which is what I would call a soft Nicklaus course. With five sets of tees everyone can find a spot that fits their game and can enjoy the day. Get on a set of tees too far back and you are in for a long day!

On Tuesday we had a wonderful drive from Garrison to West Yellowstone, MT. We are staying at the Grizzly RV Resort and it is really nice! I will show pictures in the next post as I relate our travels in this area. Until then be safe and enjoy the pics.
