Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Garage before sale

Garage Sale a Success

The garage sale was certainly a success on Saturday but I am still tired. We were up and setting stuff out by 6:30 and the sale was scheduled to begin at 8:00. At 6:45 we had some folks stopping to look and we tried to collect money and put out the stuff at the same time. We had a real crowd and it was fortunate that Tippy had arranged for several friends, Claire, Jackie, Carla, and Lyndsey, to help and they were terrific.

The sale continued until after 2:00 when the crowd fizzled out and it was trying to rain. We moved what was left into the garage and the helpers left us alone. It was pretty slow the rest of the afternoon so I went and picked up the signs that Jackie had placed around the neighborhood and we closed the garage doors and called it a day. I guess we took in about $1,700 just on the stuff Saturday. We have also been selling furniture pieces, the big TV, some of my golf pictures, and our patio set. The cost of moving the furniture to Tyler was prohibitive so we will sell it all and get what we need when we find a house. We have rented a storage unit so store all of our personal items, at least what we won't be taking with us in the coach. At some polint, after our summer and fall RV trip, we will get it moved to our new home in Tyler.

I will post a picture of the garage prior to the yard sale. You must understand that the inside of the house was also littered with more of the stuff we were selling so we have been disrupted for several days. We will be living in the motorhome very soon as we won't have any furniture, food, or household items left in the house. The carpet shampooer comes on Friday and we will probably leave on Sunday to get a early start. More later as we begin our new adventure. Be safe.
