Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Happy New Year!

It seems that over two weeks have gone by since my last post and yet it seems like only yesterday. Tippy has been doing better every day except that today she has a touch of the flu or something. She thinks she has a fever so she has taken some aspirin and gone to bed. She continues to do her exercises religiously and walks quite a bit as well. We are currently discussing with the PT about converting to out patient status which would mean that Tippy would go to the PT place instead of them coming here. I am sure it would be cheaper for us but it would entail me driving her to Fairfield which is 50 miles round trip. So we will see what Tippy wants to do, probably just getting out sounds good to her. She has been out a few times and used the electric carts at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. You don't want to be shopping then. I try to stay behind her but she has found reverse so I'm not safe there either.

Our weather has been pretty mild overall but certainly up and down like a yo-yo. We have had several days in the high 70's lately and a few in the high 30's. One day it is a tee shirt and the next requires a jacket. Oh well, at least we haven't had any snow, not yet anyhow. We had a tree removed from our yard, down by the lake, and that improved our view of the lake tremendously! Unfortunately the tree was mostly dead but we did leave the stump to build into a table. It should be a nice spot to sit and watch the sunset or the kids playing.

My household skills continue to improve and I am now allowed to do laundry with only a helpful hint or two, load and run the dishwasher, thank God for that dishwasher, and I even made toasted cheese sandwiches today all by myself, well okay, Tippy did give me the initial directions. I hate to admit it but I am kind of enjoying my new chores but don't let Tippy know.

I have been working in the shop a bit and have completed a few projects that turned out pretty good. My best work to date, in my humble opinion, is pictured above and I have also done a couple of large segmented bowls that were only okay. I am learning to cut the pieces and fit them together better with each new project. I can now see where my errors come from and can, hopefully, eliminate them from future projects. of course new errors will pop up but that is to be expected, isn't that Murphy's Law?

Tippy quietly passed another birthday last week. She is happy to have them but sorry to have them as well, if you get my drift. The worst thing about having birthdays is not having them.

We have gotten into the video call technology and is it ever cool! If you don't have a WebCam hurry out to the store and buy one then go to skype.com and download the free software. There is no charge for the software, did I say free, and there is no charge for the video calls either. They do offer some technologies that require a fee but I don't need any of those. Anyhow get set up and give us a video call!

We plan on going to the Alfa Rally in Canton, Texas the end of the month. We will be gone for five days so we will see how Tippy does in the motorhome for that long. Hopefully she will have graduated to a cane by then but we will see. Well almost cocktail time so I will sign off for now. Be safe.
