Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

Settling in and Catching Up

Hi all,
It has been almost a month since our last post after getting home from our summer trip. We have been working on several projects since then that we wanted to share with you. The biggest has been entirely re-doing our landscaping on the property. We had several plants removed, others trimmed, new plants and flowers added, all beds cleaned and mulched, and we will also add a water feature to the front entry way area. The look is so different and the house looks so much more open in the front that it is amazing.

We also had the gutters replaced with seamless gutters with leaf guards and again the look is so different. The final project has been re-doing the boathouse so it will accommodate our boat when the water returns, hopefully soon. We have covered the old slip, added supports underneath the boathouse that allowed us to cut out a new slip that is big enough to accommodate the boat. In addition we demolished the old storage/pump closet and will rebuild one on the area where the old slip was. We have also purchased a new boat hoist that is large enough to handle our boat and will cut the original hoist down and try to sell it to someone in the area. When all of this is completed, hopefully this week, we will paint the boathouse gray, to match the house, and use red trim to match the boat color. We will also pressure wash the deck of the boathouse and walkway and then have it stained to match the deck at the rear of the house.

My only nightmare is that we will have a great looking boathouse that doesn't have any water under it! We are supposed to get lots of rain this winter and maybe that will help the lake level to rise. The water district is also working on at least two projects to add water to the lake and stabilize its level for the future.

We are excited to have the kids and their families coming for Thanksgiving! I think it will be a hoot for the kids to be with each other and we have plenty of room for them to run and play without getting into trouble. The only trouble with that is Cole is the only one running these days but the future will change that for sure.

I will post a few pictures of the latest projects in a few days, after they are completed, so stand by. In the meantime be safe and enjoy your time each day.
