Stu & Tippy's Travels

This Blog will be used to document the travels of Stuart and Tippy Reid as we travel this beautiful country in our motorhome. We will hopefully be able to share our experiences in words and pictures and allow our friends and family to enjoy them with us.

On the Move

We left Polson on Saturday and drove southeast to Dillon, Mt. We stayed at a real nice RV park just a few minutes from the Bannack State Park and the Bannack Ghost Town. We didn't get to see either place so we now have a reason to return to that area. After Tippy returned from Mass on Sunday we departed for Pocatello, Idaho where we stayed for two days at the Cowboy RV Park. The park wasn't special, mostly long term residents, but our spot was a double long site right by the entrance so we did just fine. I played golf on Monday at the Highland Golf Course, one of the municipal courses in Pocatello, and had a good day. There was a group called the "Nooners" that play every day at 11:00. Maybe they should have been called the "Nooners minus one." Anyhow they allow anyone to play and I played with three nice guys that live in the area. One of them actually lives at Lake Havasu City, Az in the winter and knew several people that I know from my golfing days. They had a $5 game and $1 went to the low score total on all of the par 3's, I split this with two other guys, $2 went to a skins pool and I got one skin with a birdie on #16, also a par three, and the last $2 went to an individual pool played with the Chicago format. One point for a bogey, 2 points for a par, 4 points for a birdie, etc. Each of the players received 70% of their handicap, 7 strokes in my case, and then those strokes were subtracted from 36, par score for the round - 2 X 18 = 36. So my goal was to earn 29 points, which I did, but apparently that wasn't good enough as I didn't finish in the money in that category. So for my $5 contribution I received $11 back so I guess that would be a good return on my money.

The day was beautiful and the course was very nice. There was a lot of grain in the greens and it ook me a few holes to get it figured out. They would roll about 10.5 downgrain and about 6 against the grain so the difference was significant. My first two putts against the grain were left about 7 feet short. Anyhow I had a nice time and met some very nice folks. Tippy cooked a nice dinner, Friday's Firecracker Chicken, and we watched TV before going to bed. Today we will drive to Moab, Utah to see the Canyon Lands National Park and the Arches National Park. We will stay there for four nights so we will have time to look around a bit. From Moab we will drive to Pagosa Springs, Colorado where I will play a round of golf and we will take a day trip to Creede, CO which is up in the mountains a little north and east of Pagosa Springs. More later, with pictures, from Moab. Be safe.
